Prunus laur. Genolia, commonly known as Genolia Cherry Laurel, is an evergreen shrub or small tree that thrives in the Irish climate.

Height/Spread: Genolia Cherry Laurel can reach a height of up to 15 feet (4.5 meters) with a spread of approximately 8-10 feet (2.5-3 meters), making it an excellent choice for creating privacy screens or hedges in Irish gardens.

Position: This evergreen shrub thrives in a position that receives full sun to partial shade, making it versatile for various locations within the Irish landscape. It can tolerate a wide range of light conditions, including coastal areas.

Soil: Genolia Cherry Laurel prefers well-draining soil with a preference for slightly acidic to neutral pH levels. It can adapt to different soil types, including clay or loam, but ensuring good drainage is crucial for its optimal growth.

Flowering Season: Genolia Cherry Laurel produces small, fragrant white flowers in spring, typically in the months of April and May. These flowers add a touch of elegance to the Irish garden and attract pollinators such as bees.

Uses: Genolia Cherry Laurel is highly valued for its versatility and is commonly used as a hedge plant, providing privacy and acting as a windbreak in the Irish climate. Its dense, glossy foliage also makes it suitable for formal gardens and as an ornamental specimen. Additionally, it can be shaped into topiaries or used for screening purposes. Its evergreen nature ensures year-round interest and beauty in Irish landscapes.
