Spearmint is a hardy perennial with bright green pointed leaves. It is vigorous and once established can put out runners, which will spread to other parts of the herb bed. A solution is to grow in containers or hanging baskets. Trim out the flower heads to keep the plant bushy. Fresh mint goes well with peas, lamb and new potatoes. It can also be used for mint tea or to flavour iced water.
Mulch annually. Fertilize during growing months if planted in a container or basket.
